An Update on the Covid-19 Emergency Payment
15th April 2020

The Arts Council has published further clarifications on the criteria for the Arts Council COVID-19 Crisis Response Award. You can read the FAQ here. They have clarified that the work created does not have to be digital and does not have to appear on Facebook, and that artists in receipt of the COVID-19 Emergency Payment can apply, though if successful they need to seek advice from their local social protection office.

In response to the need for funding to enable artists and arts workers to develop their practice or ideas during the COVID-19 crisis that does not have to have a public outcome, the guidelines have beeen updated to say the following:

  • “The Arts Council is working on this and is in discussions with our colleagues in the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht. It is not possible at this stage to state for certain what will be done in this regard, but we are aware of the need for this within the arts community.”

This update appears to be a direct response to calls from NCFA and the sector, and we will follow up about this over the coming days.
