SATURDAY OCTOBER 19

LAUGH YOUR ARTS OFF at the National Campaign for the Arts (NCFA) COMEDY FUNDRAISER

The National Campaign for the Arts (NCFA) and Project Arts Centre today announced details of “LAUGH YOUR ARTS OFF”, a comedy fundraiser event at Project Arts Centre on Saturday October 19 2013, to raise funds for the NCFA’s activities in 2013/2014.

A luminous line-up of Ireland’s best and brightest comedic voices come together at Ireland’s premier arts centre for an evening of quirky insights and scathing asides. At the same time, they’re helping the NCFA in its year-round work to ensure the arts are on local and national government agendas and recognised as a vital part of contemporary Irish life.

Hosted by Kalle Ryan – writer, performance poet, comedian and host of the wildly popular monthly brownbread mixtape show – this night of unbridled joy features one of the high-kings of Irish comedy, Barry Murphy, who is simply not to be missed, whether as one-third of Après Match, as his German alter-ego Günter or as his surreal and wonderful self; and the fearless David McSavage, whose unique blend of repartee, ribaldry and rhythm sees him tread the line between madness and genius with aplomb.

Also performing are Paul Currie (described as what would happen if Tim Burton created Mr Bean); Cork-born fun-sized singer-songwriter Eleventyfour; performer, writer and comedian Sonya Kelly (winner of a Scotsman Fringe First Award 2012); stand-up comedian Christian Talbot; comedy duo Totally Wired! (Lorcan Hughes, comedian, singer, songwriter and Emmet Quinn, comedian and impressionist); musical comedian Aidan Strangeman and The Supernatural Brothers.
